Japanese Prime Minister Naoto Kan leaves a press conference at his official residence in Tokyo on August 26, 2011, while Deputy Chief Cabinet Secretaries Yoshito Sengoku (L) and Tetsuro Fukuyama (R) look on. Kan announced his resignation as president of the Democratic Party of Japan, paving the way for the nation's sixth premier in five years.
