Singapore's president-elect Tony Tan should have few problems settling into the job thanks to his experience, but he will have to deal with restive voters after winning by the slimmest of margins on August 28, 2011. Tan was first elected as an MP in 1979 and went on to become minister of education, trade and industry, finance, health and defence. He was a deputy prime minister from 1995 to 2003.
