SOMALIA-EAFRICA-DROUGHT
Photo made September 5, 2011 shows a sixteen-year-old Masteha Jama Mohamed folding her malnourished baby in Mogadishu's Bandir hospital as she awaits treatment. Malnutrion rates in Somalia are the highest in Africa due to a severe drought that has left more than 12 million people across the Horn of Africa region in danger of starvation. Three-quarters of a million people are facing death by starvation in Somalia according the United Nations, who declared Monday that famine had spread to a sixth southern region of the beleaguered Horn of Africa state.
