EAFRICA-DROUGHT-SOMALIA
TO GO WITH AFP STORY By Otto Bakano
Photo made on September 5, 2011 shows a Somali mother holding her child in Mogadishu's Banadir hospital where dozens of malnourished children have been hospitalised with severe malnutrtion. Malnutrion rates in Somalia are the highest in Africa due to a severe drought that has left more than 12 million people across the Horn of Africa region in danger of starvation. Three-quarters of a million people are facing death by starvation in Somalia according the United Nations, who declared Monday that famine had spread to a sixth southern region of the beleaguered Horn of Africa state.
