US-SPACE-SUNSPOTS
This NASA Solar and Heliospheic Observatory image releaed 08 January, 2003 shows sunspots 537(L) and 536(C) have both unleashed strong solar flares this week, and they pose a threat for even stronger explosions. NOAA forecasters estimate a 15% chance of an X-flare during the next 24 hours. Auroras are possible in the days ahead as a result of this activity. AFP PHOTO/NASA
