Romanian conductor Tiberiu Soare gestures during the rehearsal of Oedipe, an opera by Romanian composer George Enescu at the National Opera in Bucharest September 8, 2011. Three famous conductors, Israeli-Argentinian Daniel Barenboïm, Lawrence Foster of the US and young Romanian Tiberiu Soare, explained to AFP what is the essence of their profession on the occasion of the Enescu music festival in Bucharest. The 34-year old Tiberiu Soare who once conducted the London Philharmonic orchestra during a performance with Angela Gheorghiu stresses it is important to know the political and social context in which a work was composed in order "to convey the letter and the spirit" of the music.
