TO GO WITH AFP STORY BY ANELLA RETA
The public show their joy as Dutch hearing-impaired performer Serhat Agacan dances onstage employing gestural language during the Sencity event held at the Museum of Modern Art (MAM) in Sao Paulo, Brazil on September 24, 2011. The first of such events for hearing-impaired in Brazil was broadcast live simultaneously with its original version in Rotterdam. The festival was sponsored by the Dutch foundation Skyway to acompany the National Day of the Hearing-impaired people celebrated on September 26. According to theBrazilian statistics institute IBGE, as per 2000 some six million people suffer some sort of hearing deficiency in the country. AFP PHOTO/YASUYOSHI CHIBA
