PHILIPPINES-WEATHER-TYPHOON
Residents sit marooned on their rooftops after Typhoon Nalgae flooded the town of Calumpit, an agricultural town about two hours north of the capital Manila, on October 2, 2011. The Philippines deployed helicopters, rubber boats and amphibious vehicles on October 2 in a desperate bid to evacuate tens of thousands in the aftermath of successive killer storms. Nalgae blew out of the Philippines on October 1 after a six-hour rampage across the country's main island Luzon, bringing fresh troubles for more than a million people still affected by Typhoon Nesat, which struck five days earlier.
