FRANCE2012-ELECTIONS-PS
A man passes by electoral posters of candidate for French Socialist party (PS) primary vote for France's 2012 presidential election Francois Hollande, on October 16, 2011 in Paris, on the day of the vote's second round. Facing off for the prize are 57-year-old lawmaker and former Socialist Party chief Francois Hollande, the frontrunner, and Martine Aubry, another party leader who gave France the 35-hour working week when labour minister. Hollande won the first round of the primary vote last October 9, with 39 percent, and had previously been endorsed by the three other defeated candidates, including his former partner, 2007 presidential candidate Segolene Royal. Aubry came second with 30 percent but was expected to pick up many of the votes cast for Montebourg by appealing to the left-wing base of the party. AFP PHOTO THOMAS COEX
