TUNISIA-ISLAM-POLITICS-MEDIA-UNREST-DEMO

Tunisians raise their fists and chants slogans as they take part in a demonstration march against censorship and recent violence in Tunis, on October 16, 2011. The sign held by a woman (C) reads : "No to blackmail, Yes to freedom of expression, intellectual creation and the freedom of individuals". The protest was planned to denounce the violence which erupted when hundreds of hardline Salafists attacked the headquarters of the Nessma TV station on October 13 and the home of the channel's owner on October 14, after it aired the film "Persepolis" by Franco-Iranian director Marjane Satrapi, in which a sequence shows God illustrated as an old bearded man, which angered hardline Islamists since the making of icons of God is forbidden in Islam.
