GUATEMALA-US-ARBENZ-COUP-FORGIVENESS
Handout picture released by the Guatemalan Human Rights Commission (COPREDEH) of the military junta that was installed after the Revolution of October 20, 1944 chaired by Captain Jacobo Arbenz (L) Jorge Toriello Garridon(C) and Major Francisco Javier Arana. Arbenz was overthrown 57 years ago by a movement promoted by the United States, scoring the first episode of the Cold War in Latin America. On October 20, 2011 the Guatemalan state will ask for forgiveness to the Arbenz family for the human rights violations he suffered when overthrown. AFP PHOTO / COPREDEH
