This integrated bioeconomy project, financed by the United Nations and IFAD (International Fund for Agricultural Development) aims at increasing energy-independence among farmers to stregnthen the fight against deforestation and contribute to the protection of their environment. Forest conservation is a major challenge for the Democratic Republic of Congo, the second lung of the planet after the Amazon, covering over 1.55 million km2, mainly in the northern part of the country.
