Greek Prime Minister George Papandreou grimaces while holding a press conference following crisis talks with France's President, Germany's Chancellor, senior EU leaders and IMF director in Cannes, southeastern France, on November 2, 2011 on the eve of the G20 Summit of Heads of State and Government. Greece Prime Minister George Papandreou has said that a referendum on the European debt crisis deal for his country could be held as early as December 4 or 5, French President Nicolas Sarkozy said on November 2. The Greek leader said the popular vote could be held in a month's time after EU leaders including German Chancellor Angela Merkel told Papandreou during an emergency meeting that the referendum has to be held "as soon as possible."
