COLOMBIA-EDUCATION-STUDENTS-PROTEST-FARC-CANO
A man holds a newspaper with the picture of the top leader of the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC), Guillermo Leon Saenz Vargas, a.k.a. "Alfonso Cano", killed last week in a military operation, as students demonstratrate against an education reform bill in Medellin, Antioquia department, Colombia, on November 10, 2011. Thousands of students from more than 30 public universities took to the streets in Colombia to protest against proposed education reforms they fear will partially privatize higher education. The students have been on strike over the past month to protest a bill put forward by President Juan Manuel Santos that would require public universities to generate some of their own revenues. On Wednesday Santos offered to withdraw the draft and open a dialogue if the more than half a million students on strike lift their form of pressure. AFP PHOTO/Raul ARBOLEDA
