TO GO WITH AFP STORY "FRANCE-INDONESIA-LITERATURE-EDITION" BY LOIC VENNIN
In this photograph taken on November 14, 2011 US author Jamie James stands beside a portrait of famous French poet Arthur Rimbaud (1854-1891), in his shop in Kerobokan on the Indonesian island of Bali. James is attempting to uncover the mystery of Rimbauds escape in the island of Java in his book "Rimbaud in Java, the lost voyage" published by Editions Didier Millet. Rimbaud embarked on a journey to Java at the age of 21 after conscripting to serve in the Dutch colonial army. Arriving in Batavia on July 22, 1876 Rimbaud and hundreds of Dutch troops were transported by train to Tuntang and stationed in Salatiga garrison where he deserted after two weeks .
