French UMP right-wing ruling party MP for the Bouches-du-Rhône Valerie Boyer who authored Armenian Genocide denial bill smiles at the French National Assembly on December 22, 2011 in Paris after the debate on a bill, which would see anyone in France who publicly denies the 1915 Armenian genocide face a year in jail and a fine of 45,000 euros ($58,000). The vote, by a show of hands, saw the bill approved by a large majority of the about 50 deputies present in the National Assembly, with about a half-dozen voting against.
