YEAR-2011-SCIENCE-PHYSICS-NEUTRINO-FILES
TO GO WITH AFP STORY BY LAURENT BANGUET
(FILES) This file picture taken on November 14, 2011 shows a researcher pointing to how events are reported and which bricks made collisions with neutrinos during a test made in March 2011 by the Oscillation Project with Emulsion-Racking Apparatus detector (OPERA) at the Gran Sasso National Laboratory (LNGS) located under the Gran Sasso mountain. The neutrinos had been generated at the giant underground lab of the European Centre for Nuclear Research (CERN) in Geneva. They were timed at their departure and, after travelling 732 kms (454 miles) through Earth's crust, at their arrival at the Gran Sasso Laboratory in Italy. The Large Hadron Collider at CERN may have found that subatomic neutrino particles can travel faster than the speed of light. This experiment has apparently broken the laws of modern physics and shaken the scientific community in 2011. AFP PHOTO / ALBERTO PIZZOLI
