AUTO-MOTO-RALLY-DAKAR-SCHOTT-STAGE 6-CANCELLED
A woman waves a Chilean national flag as Germany's driver Stephan Schott arrives on his BMW in Copiapo, Chile, on January 6, 2012 -- day in which organizers of the 2012 Dakar Rally were forced to cancel the sixth stage between Fiambala in Argentina and Copiapo due to summer snow in the Andes. Organisers were left with no choice but to call off the 394km run from Fiambala to Copiapo containing 247km of timed special after the frontier at Paso de San Francisco was closed by Chilean authorities. The Dakar has decided to organize a convoy for all vehicles and the event will resume on Saturday in Copiapo for the 573km (with 419km of timed special) seventh stage. AFP PHOTO/PHILIPPE DESMAZES
