ESTONIA-RUSSIA-CULTURE-MINORITY-RELIGION-ORTHODOX
TO GO WITH AFP STORY BY ANNELI REIGAS
Folk-singer Oie Sarv, 56, who belongs to the Seto minority in Estonia, poses for a photograph inside her home in Setoland, on February 17, 2012. Oie and her 28-year old son Ants Sarv are working to transform an old farmhouse into a new cultural centre for the Seto minority in Setoland, where about 2000 people live. Estonia's Seto, a minority of some 15,000 in this Baltic nation of 1.3 million, have to struggle to keep their way of life alive as young people leave their close-knit communities to seek new opportunities. Decked in the finely-crafted silver jewelry that symbolises her culture, folk-singer Oie Sarv sings and often reflects on what centuries of tradition mean in the Internet age.
