Indian women arrive to join a protest ahead of International Woman's Day in New Delhi on March 5, 2012. The women were demanding revision of the government's lowest benchmark for poverty, rationing of kerosene oil and other essential commodities. The status of women in India has been subject to many changes, and although women participate in all activities of urban society, considerable efforts are made to address issues such as female infanticide, gender bias, women health, and female literacy.
