ROMANIA-BELGIUM-CINEMA-DARDENNE
Belgian film director Jean-Pierre Dardenne answers questions during an interview in Bucharest on March 5, 2011. The Dardenne brothers have appealed to the Romanian authorities to support the local cinema which he said are strong "fans" on the occasion of the premiere of "Le Gamin cycling" Monday night in Bucharest. "A cinema in a country, it is also built with a cultural policy of the state. I wish that the Romanian state to do something for Romanian cinema," said Luc Dardenne before watching the film that won the Grand Prix at Cannes in 2011, their fourth consecration after two Palmes d'Or and Best Screenplay. Admirers of Romanian cinema particularly Cristian Mungiu, Corneliu Porumboiu and Cristi Puiu, the Dardenne brothers have said that this new wave "was an eye opener" for them. Their premiere in Bucharest marked the beginning of the events organized to mark the 10th anniversary of the presence of the Wallonia-Brussels Delegation in the Romanian capital.
