QAEDA-US-ATTACKS-YEMAN
This handout picture of a video grab provided by the SITE Intelligence Group shows that Al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula (AQAP) announced the death of Abu Omar Muhammad al-Hanq, a regional leader in Arhab district in Sana'a province of Yemen. The group reported in a communiqué issued on jihadist forums on March 8, 2012, that Hanq died from an illness on March 4, and praised him as a "sheikh of jihad and support." AQAP also noted that two of his sons participated in jihad and died, including one in Iraq, and another in Arhab in late-2008/early-2009 as a result of a joint American-Yemeni strike. Hanq had appeared in a November 2011, AQAP video release titled, "One Ummah," and in it he was described as a "tribal sheikh." He said during his appearance: "The innocent people are living a miserable life, so they need to unite their efforts to remove oppression and defend the oppressed, and do jihad for the Cause of Allah the Almighty sincerely. They have the religion of Allah. What is for the Cause of Allah will continue; otherwise, it will cease and create separations, and those who die will be martyrs."AFP PHOTO/SITE INTELLIGENCE GROUP-- RESTRICTED TO EDITORIAL USE -- MANDATORY CREDIT "AFP PHOTO / SITE INTELLIGENCE GROUP" -- NO MARKETING NO ADVERTISING CAMPAIGNS - DISTRIBUTED AS A SERVICE TO CLIENTS
