FRANCE-SALE-OFFBEAT-TORTURE-FILES
(FILES) In a file picture taken on September 20, 2002 France's last surviving executioner in Algeria Fernand Meyssonnier shows the miniature replica of a guillotine in Fontaine-de-Vaucluse . The sale of instruments of torture that once belonged to Fernand Meyssonnier, a 20th century French executioner was suspended "in a spirit of appeasement" said on March 30, 2012 the French Cornette de Saint Cyr house. Human rights organisations have urged the French government to ban next week's sale, which they describe as “the commercialisation of torture”. AFP PHOTO / GERARD JULIEN
