(FILES) In this 01 May 1992 file photo, Rodney King, the Los Angeles motorist whose beating by police was captured on videotape and subsequent acquittal of the officers led to widespreads deadly riots, smiles in Beverly Hills, during a press conference. King, whose beating by police in 1992 sparked the LA riots, criticized April 20, 2012 the law at the heart of the contested Trayvon Martin shooting, as he recalled his own struggles. Speaking a week ahead of the 20th anniversary of the Los Angeles race riots which left more than 50 people dead, King said he sympathized with Martin's family but declined to speculate on the role of race in the case.
