A model poses with the Beau Sancy diamond during a Sotheby's auction press preview on May 10, 2012 in Geneva. The 35-carat pear-shaped diamond Marie de Medici wore at her coronation in 1610, one of the world's most famous gems, is to be auctioned in Geneva on May 15. Passed down through the royal families of France, England, Prussia and the Netherlands, the diamond has witnessed 400 years of European history. The stone -- which is expected to fetch 2 to 4 million US dollars (1,5 to 3 million EURO)-- gets its name from diamond collector Nicolas Harley de Sancy, who bought it in Constantinople, now Istanbul, in the late 16th century.
