US stocks were up in early trade May 15, 2012 as Greece's moderate socialist leader said new polls were imminent after two weeks of political deadlock opened new cracks in the eurozone. US shares also got help from fresh data for April showing inflation well under control and energy prices receding for the first time this year. A half hour into trade (1400 GMT) the Dow Jones Industrial Average added 18.01 points, or 0.14 percent, to reach 12,713.36, while the S&P 500 rose 2.22 (0.17 percent) to 1,340.57. The tech-heavy Nasdaq got a boost as Groupon earned analyst upgrades and fever built for Facebook's looming IPO. The Nasdaq index was up 9.37 points (0.32 percent) to 2,911.95.
