This handout photo received on May 25, 2012 by the African Union-United Nations Information Support Team and taken on May 24 shows Ugandan soldiers serving with the African Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM) and Somali National Army (SNA) troops passing over open ground near the outskirts of the town of Afgoye, located to the west of the country's capital Mogadishu. A joint AMISOM and SNA advance called 'Operation Free Shabelle' faced no resistance on its third day as forces advanced a further six kms closer to the town of Afgoye, home to approximately 400,000 internally displaced people. Military commanders said on May 24 that Al-Qaeda linked Shebab fighters in Somalia were fleeing their key stronghold of Afgoye, some 30 kms (18 miles) northwest of Mogadishu. ahead of an advancing column of government and African Union troops.
