FRANCE-GARAUDY-FILES
(FILES) - A picture taken on May 6, 1996 in Chennevières-sur-Marne, near Paris, shows controversial French philosopher Roger Garaudy, 84, with his book "Les mythes fondateurs de la politique israelienne" (The Founding Myths of Israeli Policy). Formerly a prominent communist author, Garaudy converted to Islam and written several books which have been controversial due to his anti-Zionist positions and denial of the Holocaust. Garaudy died on June 13, 2012 at Chennevieres-sur-Marne at the age of 98 years, officials at the town hall and local funeral directors said on June 15, 2012.
