Segolene Royal, Socialist Party (PS) candidate in the 1st constituency of Charente Maritime department for the French parliamentary elections, casts her ballot at the polling station for the second round on June 17, 2012 in La Rochelle, western France. French president Francois Hollande, who defeated right-winger Nicolas Sarkozy in May's presidential election, has urged voters to give him the majority he needs to steer France through Europe's debt crisis, rising unemployment and a faltering economy.
