PHILIPPINES-RELIGION-FESTIVAL
Devotees, locally known as "taong putik" or mud people, bath themselves with mud on a rice field prior to attending a mass during a religious festival honoring Saint John the Baptist, in Aliaga town, Nueva Ecija province, north of Manila on June 24, 2012. The devotees at dawn head to rice fields to cover themselves with mud and banana leaves, to imitate their patron Saint John the Baptist, who is described in the bible as looking-like a beggar.
