JAPAN-FESTIVAL
A local resident and his pet dog are splashed on the street as part of the Fukagawa Hachiman Festival in Tokyo on August 12, 2012. The main parade of the Fukagawa Hachiman Festival, in which an enormous mikoshi (portable shrine) is carried through the streets, only takes place every three years. 2011 was due to be the big one, but in the wake of the March 11 earthquake and tsunami, the organisers of the festival decided to postpone things until this year.
