US-MEXICO-CRIME-DRUGS-PROTEST
Mexican peace activist Javier Sicilia (L) is blessed by Father Richard Estrada at La Placita Church on August 13, 2012 in Los Angeles where the National Alliance of Latin American and Caribbean Communities (NALACC) welcomed participants in the Caravan for Peace across the United States, a month-long campaign launched by Mexican peace activist Javier Sicilia, to protest the two countries' brutal drug war. Sicilia has emerged as the face of the protest movement against President Felipe Calderon's "imbecilic war" on drugs since his son and six others were found killed and tortured last year in an incident blamed on a local gang. The caravan, which will pass through 25 major cities, began at the Mexican border city of Tijuana with about 250 participants and is due to end in Washington on September 10. AFP PHOTO / Frederic J.
