A boy cools off in a fountain, on August 21, 2012 in Albi, southeastern France, as the city swelters under a summer heatwave. The number of departments in heatwave orange alert was reduced by half, from 16 to 8, announced on August 21, 2012 by the French national meteorological service Meteo, indicating that the heatwave "is coming to the end." The eight departments which are still under orange alert are the Ain, Allier, Haute-Garonne, Isere, Loire, Puy-de-Dome, the Rhône and the Tarn. AFP PHOTO / PASCAL PAVANI
