MALI-POLITICS-GOVERNMENT
QUALITY REPEAT
Mali's interim president Dioncounda Traore (C-R) and Prime Minister Cheick Midibo Diarra (C-L) arrive at Koulouba Palace in Bamako for the first council of newly appointed ministers on August 23, 2012. Dioncounda Traore has formed a national unity government in an attempt to bring stability to a country split in two after Islamists seized northern regions following a coup. The west African nation has been in crisis since March when democratically elected president Amadou Toumani Toure was overthrown by the military, who two weeks later handed over power to a transitional administration. The national unity government announced by presidential decree late on August 20, 2012 has 31 ministers of almost all political shades including four women. AFP PHOTO / HABIBOU KOUYATE
