Indonesian female employees of Indosat telecom company wear batik dresses during a ceremony marking national batik day in Jakarta on October 2, 2012. Batik's unique wax resistant dyeing technique passed on through generations of artisans and craftsmen creating intricate hand made designed fabric has been recognised by UNESCO as Indonesia's cultural contribution to the world. The craft of batik is intertwined with the cultural identity of the Indonesian people and through the symbolic meanings of its colours and designs, expresses their creativity and spirituality.
