Kaladze has enjoyed the peak of football success but his latest triumph in Georgia's October 1, 2012 parliamentary elections may see him making his debut as the country's deputy prime minister. Twice winner of the Champions League with Italy's AC Milan, Kaladze was nominated on October 8 as minister for regional development and infrastructure and also named as Prime Minister Bidzina Ivanishvili's second deputy prime minister. Ivanishvili announced his first cabinet on October 8 after his Georgian Dream coalition's shock parliamentary election win over President Mikheil Saakashvili's once dominant ruling party.
