Ford workers wait on October 24, 2012 in front of the main entrance of Ford's Belgian assembly plant in Genk before an extraordinary meeting between Ford Belgium and Ford Europe management and the trade union representatives with the future of its 4,300 employees at risk. Ford announced at the meeting that it would close the Genk plant by the end of 2014. When sub-contractors are included, some 10,500 people depend on Ford Genk for work.
