GERMANY-HISTORY-WWII-NAZI-ROMA-SINTI-MEMORIAL
Guests, including German Chancellor Angela Merkel (2ndL) are reflected in the memorial to the estimated half million Roma and Sinti murdered by the Nazis during World War II during the unveiling ceremony in Berlin on October 24, 2012. Historians estimate nearly 500,000 Roma men, women and children across Europe were killed between 1933 and 1945, decimating a population with roots in Germany dating back six centuries.
