CROATIA-WAR-VUKOVAR-ANNIVERSARY-CANDLES
A man stands mesmerized in downtown of capital Zagreb, early morning on November 18, 2012 as he watches candles which all together make the name of Croatian town of Vukovar, traditionally lit on this date. Today this eastern country's town that stands as a symbol of Croatia's wartime horrors will commemorate the 21st anniversary of town's fall to Serb forces, the bloodiest episode of the 1991-95 war. Meanwhile, just two days ago - on November 16, 2012, all around the country hundreds of thousands of Croatians jubilantly welcomed back their two "hero" generals, Ante Gotovina and Mladen Markac , acquitted by the UN war crimes court of crimes against the Serbs during the 1990s breakup of Yugoslavia, while former foe Serbia was appalled by the "scandalous" decision.
