BELGIUM-EU-AGRI-FISH
Spanish Agriculture and Environment Minister Miguel Arias Canete (L) and French minister for Transports and Maritime Economy Frederic Cuvillier arrive for an Agriculture and Fisheries Council on December 18, 2012 at the EU Headquarters in Brussels. The Council will try to reach political agreement on regulations relating to fishing opportunities for 2013 for EU vessels in the waters of the Atlantic, the Channel and the North Sea. These regulations fix each year the total allowable catches (TAC) and member states' fishing quotas in order to keep the fishing stocks at sustainable levels, consistent with the overall objectives of the Common Fisheries Policy.
