BRITAIN-FBL-ENG-PR-LIVERPOOL-HILLSBOROUGH-DISASTER-PROBE
Margaret Aspinall (C), who lost her son James in the 1989 Hillsborough disaster, talks to the media flanked by Trevor Hicks and Jenni Hicks of the Hillsborough Family Support Group, outside the High Court in central London on December 19, 2012, as they react after the High Court quashed the original accidental death verdicts returned on 96 Liverpool football fans who died in the tragedy. The request from the Attorney General to quash the original inquest verdicts follows the publication of a damning independent report in September which concluded that 41 of the 96 people who died would have had the "potential to survive" if they had received medical treatment more quickly. Attorney General Dominic Grieve called for fresh inquests to be held. The fatal crush was caused by huge overcrowding in a terrace at Hillsborough Stadium in the northern English city of Sheffield prior to an FA Cup semi-final between Liverpool and Nottingham Forest in 1989.
