(FILES) A file picture taken on November 4, 1983 shows Soviet born ballet dancer Rudolf Nureyev performing on the stage of Opera de Paris during a scene from the ballet "Raymonda" created by Lydie Pachkoff and Marius Petita. Nureyev (1938-1993) studied at the Leningrad Choreographic School, and became a soloist with the Kirov Ballet. While touring with the Ballet in 1961, he obtained political asylum in Paris. Nureyev's virtuosity and expressiveness made him one of the greatest male dancers of the 1960's, in both classical and modern ballets. He became ballet director of the Paris Opera in 1983. January 6, 2013 will mark the twentieth anniversary of his death. AFP PHOTO PHILIPPE WOJAZER
