Members of an elite anti-poaching unit watch over an elephant bull on February 4, 2013 at the Laikipia conservancy, approximately 250 kms north of the capital Nairobi, where members of the local community have taken up arms to protect wildlife from poachers. Turning poachers into gamekeepers helps protect the wildlife, but with little money in the task and few employment opportunities elsewhere, there is always the temptation to return.
