People look at "Dr. Bontecou's Private Teaching Album of Wounded Civil War Soldiers: Primarily Chest and Mid-body Wounds, 1864-65", albumen silver prints from glass negatives by Reed Brockway Bontecou in the exhibition, "Photography and the American Civil War" April 1, 2013 at The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York. Bontecou was an army physician who photographed his patients at Harewood General Hospital in Washington, D.C. when they arrived from the field, before and after their surgeries and upon recovery.
