A former Portuguese television presenter sentenced to six years in prison in the case of the pedophilia scandal of the Casa Pia, turned himself to the authorities on April 2, 2013 to serve his sentence after all his appeals were dismissed from court. The Casa Pia scandal broke in November 2002 when a resident of the state-run care home for youngsters in difficult circumstances told the press of having been raped by an employee of the Casa Pia.
