The chairman of the Belgian Science Policy Office, Philippe Mettens, attends on April 3, 2013 the inauguration the European Space Agency's (ESA) Space Weather Coordination Center (SSCC) in Brussels. The SSCC is to provides crucial data on solar flares and other dramatic outer space events that may threaten Earth's communications and navigation satellites, power grids and even planes.
