"Romania is a model of good practice in the fight against corruption through administrative means," Horia Georgescu he said in an interview with AFP. ANI is a public body created in 2007 on the advice of the European Commission, to check cases of illicit enrichment or conflict of interest. A total 300,000 Romanians - local politicians, parliamentarians, government officials, ministers, police officers, judges and union leaders (39 categories of people) - are required to report each year and update their assets and interests in private companies, as well as their spouses have to do.
