Skilling and the US Justice Department came to an agreement on May 8, 2013, to reduce his sentence and end years of legal twists in the Enron financial scandal marked the beginning of the 2000s. According to court documents, Skilling and Justice agreed to a term of imprisonment of 14 years to 17 years and a half. This is a significant reduction compared to 24 years and four months that Skilling received in his 2006 conviction of 19 charges, including fraud and conspiracy, he was imprisoned in December of the same year in a federal prison in Colorado.
