US-CRIME-KIDNAP-POLICE
TO GO WITH AFP STORY US-CRIME-KIDNAP-POLICE BY MIRA OBERMAN
Police Commander Keith Sulzer(L) is hugged by Gina DeJesus's mother Nancy Ruiz during Gina's return to her family home, in Cleveland, May 9, 2013 in Cleveland, Ohio. Sullzer spent countless hours combing through fields, alleys and abandonned buildings for the three missing girls back in 2003 and 2004. When the call came across that three missing girls were found alive after a decade of captivity, Cleveland police commander Keith Sulzer radioed back: don't let them out of the ambulance until I see them. Sulzer spent countless hours combing through fields, alleys and abandoned buildings for the missing teens back in 2003 and 2004. He'd marched with their parents. Attended every vigil. "When I walked in there it was a surreal moment," he said. "I could recognize them right off the bat -- I've known those faces for so long, even though they were a little thinner, a little older."
