SYRIA-CONFLICT
A member of the Syrian National Defence Forces (NDF) patrols the Christian-dominated village of Ghassaniyeh in the countryside of the rebel city of Qusayr on May 11, 2013. The area has been a strategic boon to Syrian rebels, who used it as a base from which to block the main road from Damascus to the coast, impeding military movement and supply chains.
